Mosh and I went into Norwich today and spent a good couple of hours or more in the Cathedral which dates from 1096. First we did one of the free tours which are given by volunteers. We were the only ones on it so had plenty of time to ask questions of our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide.
There is much of the cathedral that is 900 years old which is breathtaking in itself but the little imperfections and small features that were pointed out made it all the more interesting.
Then we had a bite to eat in the refectory before returning to take pictures which are all on my flickr page. Thanks to our guide there are so many stories behind the pictures that I can't even begin to tell here - you'll have to go on the tour. I may post one or two of the best pics and their stories.
We got chatting to chaplain on duty who was drawn to us by the some of the less conventional angles we were taking pictures from. He was very friendly and sent us on our way with a blessing.
It was a lovely way to spend a few hours and will definitely go back at some point.
Oh and if you were wondering about the rather unusual font, it is made of two huge brass chocolate mixing bowls which were donated by local chocolate and sweet manufacturer Rowntree Mackintosh before the factory was moved to York....
Had my hair cut by the fabulous Shingo. He took quite a bit off the length and thinned out the mop at the back. Safe to say it won't look like this again until I go back to him in two months time...
It was a great idea because the evening light is so different from when I normally walk this route at late morning/lunch time.
I love the art deco influence in the Rogers' designed Mi6 building.
There were still plenty of people on the South Bank enjoying the last of the day's sunshine.
As a surprise he'd asked friends Kate and Martin along too and we met up with them at the restaurant...
Fung Shing lived up to expectations and I had my favourites: soft shell crab followed by roasted eel in honey sauce. Yum. Decided to have a digestive and the waiter suggested a Chinese one which Mosh and I decided to brave it. They were his and hers with the latter being slightly sweeter. Haven't got a clue what we were drinking but it was quite nice and did the trick :0)
Mosh, the official Rev Stan blog photographer on Tues night, has finally managed to work out how to extract the pics from his camera phone of Muse at Wembley.
And here are some professional shots taken from NME.com
